Students in the FIRST® LEGO® League Explore program focus on the fundamentals of engineering through hands-on problem solving. They learn to design, build, and code while discovering real-world solutions using LEGO® bricks. The program is powered by LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential, providing an engaging and age-appropriate introduction to coding and engineering concepts.

Our mission is to inspire young learners to explore engineering and computer science through hands-on LEGO® learning, block-based coding, creativity, and teamwork—while building confidence and curiosity in STEM.
Students in the FIRST® LEGO® League Explore program focus on the fundamentals of engineering through hands-on problem solving. They learn to design, build, and code while discovering real-world solutions using LEGO® bricks. Powered by LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential, the program introduces block-based coding in a fun, age-appropriate way and reinforces teamwork through FIRST® Core Values.

Our FIRST® LEGO® League Explore teams are designed for young learners (ages 6–10) who are beginning their STEM journey. Students work in small teams under the guidance of trained coaches to explore engineering concepts through hands-on building, block-based coding, and teamwork.
Each team researches a real-world problem connected to the annual FIRST® theme, builds a LEGO® model, and creates a team poster to showcase their learning. Using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential, students learn foundational coding skills while developing creativity, communication, and collaboration.
Explore teams participate in non-competitive celebration events, where every student is recognized for their effort, learning, and teamwork—reinforcing confidence and a love for STEM.
